Did you know that freezing temperatures + windy conditions = the softest laundry ever?!
Anecdotally, this has been true in my experience. Of course, you have to go outside and hang them on the line in those conditions too. Wear gloves. =)

I used to hang laundry out year round. Frozen clothes warmed up were dry. I asked a science teacher friend about it and said it is “Sublimation: the process of snow and ice changing into water vapor in the air without first melting into water.” How about that?!

Yes, isn’t that amazing?! I’m still puzzled about why they would be softer too. Like windy day in the summer and they’re not near as soft in my experience. Hrmm? Freezing while wet causes more friction of the fibers?

Yes – I learned that quite well in Michigan!! And there is no bleach better than diapers freezing while hanging!
